'The Music Messiah'
Op het schilderij ‘The Music Messiah’ zien we Elvis Presley op een Bijbelse manier afgebeeld als Jezus Christus aan het kruis.
Elvis wordt door velen gezien als de man die met zijn muziek en manier van entertainen voor een ongekende omslag zorgde in de muziekwereld. Mede door zijn manier van dansen en kledingkeuze belichaamde hij voor zijn generatie het verlangen naar vrijheid en zelfexpressie in alle lagen van de bevolking.
Gedurende zijn leven en nog ver daarna, kreeg Elvis miljoenen adepten. Bijna iedereen op aarde kent zijn naam. En net als Jezus werd hij een mythische figuur. Een charismatisch enigma.
Het kruis op dit schilderij symboliseert de prijs van de roem waaraan ‘The King’ ten onder is gegaan.

De zogenaamde ’Jumpsuit lijst’ is een kwinkslag naar de pakken die Elvis droeg tijdens zijn Las Vegas periode. Juist door deze lijst krijgt het schilderij de uitstraling van een altaarstuk.
Van het schilderij is tevens een gelimiteerde oplage van (500 expl.) museale giclée* prints vervaardigd in het originele formaat en ingelijst in een handgemaakte ‘Jumpsuit’ lijst.
Deze zijn alle genummerd en voorzien van signatuur en een certificaat.

The painting shows Elvis Presley hanging at the cross. The scene resembles the image of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Both men are referred to as ‘the King’.
Elvis is considered to be the man who almost single handed changed the entire music culture of the 20th century. And even decades after his passing, his influence can be found in the work of many artists.
His way of dancing, his fashion style and the way he connected to millions of people all over the world, made him a true icon who embodied the desire for freedom and self-expression for his generation.
The name Elvis is known all over the world and like Jesus he became a mythical figure. An enigma king. The cross as depicted is used to symbolise the price he had to pay for his unbearable fame.
The frame of the painting is based on de the rhinestone decorated jumpsuits he wore during his Las Vegas period. This ‘Jumpsuit’ frame gives the painting the look of an altar piece.
Beside the original painting, the artist decided to produce 500 high quality prints in exact the same size and also framed in an handmade ‘Jumpsuit’ frame.
All of them come with a certificate of authenticity and of course the signature of the artist.
